  • The length of therapy depends on your goals and the complexity of the concerns. Some clients see improvement in a few sessions, while others benefit from several months of ongoing support. I will collaborate with you to set goals and review progress regularly.

  • Sex therapy is a form of talk therapy that helps individuals and couples address emotional, psychological, and relational concerns related to sex, intimacy, and sexual functioning. It focuses on understanding underlying issues, improving communication, and promoting healthy, satisfying sexual experiences. It does not involve any physical contact or sexual activity during sessions.

To be clear, sex therapists do not have sex or any sexual contact/interactions with their clients. Although sex therapy involves discussing sexual topics and “homework” for clients to explore sexual things at home, treatment does not include ANY form of sexual contact or interaction with the therapist.

  • No. Sex therapy can be effective for individuals as well as couples. Solo clients often explore self-esteem, trauma recovery, sexual orientation, or confidence issues. Couples may focus on rebuilding connection, improving communication, or resolving desire discrepancies.

  • Description First, I want to stress that no sexual activity of any kind happens during sex therapy sessions!

Sex therapy sessions are very similar to other mental health counseling sessions. First, we get to know you by yourself or with your partner (if you have one). If you have a partner, you don’t have to bring them along, but including both partners can often be helpful! We can also help you if you want to engage your partner but aren’t sure how.

We will work on a treatment plan with you and will suggest a schedule of regular therapy appointments. At your appointments, you’ll receive “homework” exercises to practice alone and/or with your partner outside of your sessions. Homework may be general (e.g. activities for working on communication with your partner) or may involve more specific instructions and exercises.

  • Couples therapy is a space for partners to slow down, reconnect, and learn how to really hear each other again. It’s not about blame or keeping score; it’s about understanding the patterns that keep you stuck and creating a more secure, loving connection. Together, we explore communication, intimacy, and the emotional needs beneath the surface, so you can feel closer and more supported in your relationship.

  • All kinds of couples: dating, married, cohabiting, monogamous, or non-monogamous, can benefit. Some come in crisis; others simply want to strengthen what’s already good. Therapy can be helpful if you’re feeling distant, arguing more than you’d like, struggling with desire, or just wanting to feel more like a team again.

  • You’ll start noticing more understanding, softer communication, and quicker repair after conflicts. You may feel safer being vulnerable or more connected sexually and emotionally. Progress often shows up in small, meaningful shifts that grow over time.
